Christian Ministries to Offenders, Inc. (CMO) is a 501 (C) (3) corporation and thereby holds tax-exempt status.  All ministry expenses are supported through the free-will giving of individuals, churches and other organizations.  CMO has only three paid staff members but is able to provide a vast array of ministry services to nearly 1700 inmates with the help of dedicated volunteers.  Not only does CMO minister to the spiritual needs of individuals but provides hygiene items (shampoo, comb, tooth paste and tooth brush) paper, pencil and envelopes, etc. to those that cannot purchase these basic necessities through jail commissary.  CMO wishes be to a blessing to these individuals:  spirit, soul and body.

501 (c) is a provision of the United States Internal Revenue Code (26 U.S. C. & 501 (c).

501 (c) (3) exemptions apply to corporations, and any community chest, fund or foundation, organized and operated exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, testing for public safety, literary, educational purposed; to foster national or international amateur sports competition, promote the arts, or for the prevention of cruelty to children or animals.


Provision, 26 U.S.C. & 170, provides a deduction for federal income tax purposes for donors who make charitable contributions to most types of 501 (c) )3) organizations, among others.  Regulations specify which such deductions must be verifiable in order to be allowed (i.e., receipts for donations over $250).  source: Internal Revenue Code (26 U.S.C. & 501 (c).
